Cellular Automata is a powerful tool for modeling natural and artificial systems, which can be described in terms of local interaction of their constituent parts. Some types of landslide, such as debris flow and avalanche, match these requirements and can be considered dynamical systems, subdivided into elementary parts and described in terms of local interaction between their elementary portions. In this paper, after a brief review of the cellular automata method and describing its various parts, a computer program, based on the MATLAB code, was prepared for modeling landslides and rock-soil slopes. An algorithm has been proposed to present the simulation, step by step.In order to show the ability and accurate performance of the model, the slope of Km 32 in Jam-Taheri expressway was simulated on the basis of the cellular automata method and using the prepared program. The Jam-Taheri slope is composed of weak rock (marl rock), and, after cutting the rock mass and carrying out the berms at the anticipated locations to pass the expressway, the slope became unstable and began to slide after heavy rain.Simulation of this slope, according to the proposed algorithm and using the prepared program, predicts the different processes of slope failure very well and coincides with the real sliding surface and geometry of the slope after full sliding.
